Visit of Transparency International charpters

The Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs Mr. KAYITRANGA Theobald hosted the delegations from Transparency International Secretariat and the chapters from Rwanda, Ghana, Madagascar, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe in a visit for Chapter-to-Chapter Learning Exchange under the ISDA & LCAII projects. 

They discussed on social accountability mechanisms to empower citizens in governance and social inclusion. This visit helped district and chapters share experiences & strategies to fight corruption & promote good governance in health, education & land sectors.

After the discussions and visit to OSC where they assessed how the District addresses citizens' land-related issues, a visit to Ruhengeri Level Two Teaching Hospital, to observe the quality of services provided to patients. They also visited GS Muhoza I to see how the school supports all students in their education, especially girls. 

The visitors, together with the Vice Mayor attended a community meeting held in Migeshi Cell, Cyuve Sector where they appreciated the way local leaders receive and resolve the citizens' concerns. 

In this Community meeting, the vice mayor remarks centered on urging citizens to apply Hygiene and cleanliness regulations, Encouraging them to participate in the planting season by cultivating selected crops, and reminding them not to sell all of their harvest, but to save part of it for household consumption. He also stressed on The “Intore mu Biruhuko Program and the Community-based health insurance.
