The night vigil of 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in former Commune Kinigi

At Kinigi football ground, a night vigil of the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi was held, with special remembrance of the Tutsi who were killed in the former Kinigi Commune. A Walk to Remember that started from the BK branch in Kinigi and proceeded to the football ground preceded the event. The guest of honor was the Mayor Mr. Nsengimana Claudien.

In his welcoming remarks, the Executive Secretary of Kinigi Sector, Landouard Gahonzire, commended the courage and resilience of Genocide survivors who continue to live with hope. He stated that commemoration is not only about revisiting history, but also a responsibility to ensure that such atrocities never happen again. 

The mayor Nsengimana Claudien urged youth to play a role in countering genocide denial and the distortion of history through social media platforms. He also urged citizens to preserve the achievements, continuing to innovate, to remain united and continuing to support and stand in solidarity with genocide survivors.
