Strengthening Stormwater Management: Rwanda Water Resources Board Presents Masterplan Study to District Leaders
The Director General of Rwanda Water Resources Board, Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo, together with his delegation, presented a comprehensive Storm Water Masterplan study to District authorities, marking a significant step toward improving urban water management and resilience.
The study, which focuses on enhancing stormwater management systems, outlines strategic interventions aimed at reducing flooding risks, protecting infrastructure, and promoting sustainable urban development. It emphasizes modern drainage planning, effective water flow control, and environmentally friendly solutions to cope with increasing rainfall variability linked to climate change.
District Mayor Mr. Claudien Nsengimana received the delegation and commended the initiative, noting that the study provides a practical roadmap for addressing persistent stormwater challenges. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between national institutions and local governments in implementing long-term solutions that safeguard communities and support development.
