In partnership with Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA), through the Volcanoes Community Resilience Project (VCRP), a total of 35 cows were distributed across three sectors in a bid to improve livelihoods and support poverty reduction efforts. The distribution included 13 cows in Nkotsi Sector, 12 in Shingiro Sector, and 10 in Kimonyi Sector.

The event was officiated by the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, Mr. Theobald Kayiranga, alongside the representatives from the Ministry of Environment and REMA. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting sustainable development and environmental resilience.

During the event, the Vice Mayor Kayiranga encouraged beneficiaries to take proper care of the cows and emphasized the importance of using them as a long-term investment. He urged residents to avoid selling the livestock, noting that they are intended to help households improve their income, nutrition, and overall well-being, ultimately contributing to lifting families out of poverty.
