Musanze District and IPRC Musanze Hand Over Two Fully Furnished Houses to Vulnerable Genocide Survivors

At 10:30 a.m. today, in Kigombe Cell, Muhoza Sector, the Mayor of Musanze District, Mr. Nsengimana Claudien, joined the Principal of IPRC Musanze, Eng. Abayisenga Emile, and the leadership of Ibuka in Musanze District to officially inaugurate two fully furnished houses constructed for vulnerable survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The housing project, implemented by IPRC Musanze at a total cost of RWF 26.5 million, reflects a shared commitment to improving the living conditions and dignity of vulnerable genocide survivors. In addition to the construction of the two modern houses, the project provided the beneficiary families with essential household equipment, enabling them to settle into safe and comfortable homes.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, district leaders and partners commended the collaboration between Musanze District, IPRC Musanze, and Ibuka, emphasizing the importance of supporting survivors through sustainable social protection initiatives. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote the welfare and resilience of vulnerable members of the community.

The handover of the houses marks another significant milestone in ongoing efforts to ensure that survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi live in dignity, security, and hope, while demonstrating the impact that collective action can have in transforming lives.
