Citizens assemblies, forums for nation-building through shared solutions

Across all sectors, citizen assemblies were held as forums for nation-building through shared solutions. Today’s forums were held to mark the launch of the Month dedicated to Citizen Participation in Planning. 

The Mayor of Musanze District, Mr. NSENGIMANA Claudien, and the Executive Secretary of The Northern Province, Mr. NGENDAHIMANA Pascal, joined citizens of Kabeza and Rwebeya cells in Cyuve sector. During these citizen assemblies, residents were informed about their role in the planning process and in the preparation of the budget. 

Citizens were urged to safeguard the achievements already made and to embrace a culture of giving ideas, thereby playing an active role in the decisions that affect them through the District’s planning process. Afterwards, they shared their suggestions, which will serve as a foundation for the 2026/27 planning process. Present were DPC SSP James BAGABO and RDF representative.

The Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Mrs. UWANYIRIGIRA Clarisse, together with the Director of Good Governance Unit, Mrs. MUKANYANDWI Pelagie the Director of Agriculture and Natural resources Unit Mr. NGENDAHAYO Jean, and the Labour Inspector, attended a citizen assembly in Kabeza Cell, Nyange Sector.

Key discussion points included child protection – preventing and responding to violence against children; Unity and Resilience Month – activities promoting national unity and resilience among Rwandans; Tree planting season – preparations and community involvement and Citizen Participation Month for the 2026–2027 planning cycle, discussion of planned activities in Nyange Sector for 2026–2027.
